Position – Programme Manager (Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality)
Location: Kolkata

 

About the Organisation - The Centre for Health and Social Justice (www.chsj.org) is a non-profit organisation that works towards meaningful change in the lives of the most marginal communities in our society. CHSJ is registered as a Charitable Trust with its headquarters in New Delhi. It has been working since 2005 and has field interventions and partnerships in more than 10 states of India.
Parichiti is a community-level programme of CHSJ in Kolkata working for women’s empowerment. Parichiti works on issues like prevention of domestic violence, supporting survivors of domestic violence, empowerment and better working conditions of domestic workers, support for elderly women, and empowerment of adolescent girls and young women.
CHSJ is also a pioneer in working with men and boys for gender equality and has implemented field projects in several states of India. It is one of the leading resource centres on the issue of masculinity and gender equality and coordinates a network of over 5000 male gender activists from across the country.

 

About the Position - CHSJ seeks to appoint a Programme Manager who will be based out of Kolkata and provide overall guidance for the development and implementation of work related to Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality. This will include providing technical inputs, supportive supervision, monitoring, and evaluation as well as developing programmes related to both field interventions and the resource functions of the organisation.
The Programme Manager will report to the Director and work closely with other team members of the organisation.

 

The responsibilities will include –
• Support the implementation of existing projects related to women’s empowerment and gender equality
• Support the development and implementation of appropriate capacity-building strategies for the same
• Provide technical and operational guidance for adding value to existing programmes on women’s empowerment and gender equality
• Support capacity building of staff and community leaders
• Conduct regular monitoring, tracking of project outcomes and processes, and evaluation of programmes
• Documentation and report writing, including documentation of case stories and good practices and preparation of program briefs
• Develop new programmes for women’s empowerment and gender equality including women’s livelihood programmes, skills building of women, adolescent empowerment and so on.
• Develop partnerships and maintain communication with key external stakeholders including other civil society organisations, donors, and government agencies
• Support thematic and institutional advocacy efforts
• Develop concept notes and proposals for new programmes and approach appropriate resource organisations.
• Any other responsibility that may be required according to the needs of the organisation

 

Competencies, Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
• Fluency in English and Bengali – written and oral and ability to communicate in Hindi
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Skills in applying programme management tools like – Log-frame, Programme theory, PRA/PLA, Results Based Frameworks, Impact Evaluation and so on.
• Skills in facilitating participatory training and workshops
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with and bring out the best in a team
• Willingness to travel
• Computer skills, including Ms Word, Ms Excel, and Ms Powerpoint
• Post-graduate in a relevant discipline and minimum 5 years of work experience in women’s empowerment, community development, or allied fields.

Position - Communication Associate
Location: New-Delhi

About the Position - CHSJ seeks to appoint a Communication Associate who will work with the Communications Manager. CHSJ works with a wide network of CBOs in several states of India and coordinates several online communication platforms. The Communication Associate will be responsible for:

 

• Support the development of social media calendar
• Maintain database of organisation working with CHSJ for various programmes
• Manage the social media posts related to the organisation and the networks it is coordinating
• Design reports and IEC materials, presentations, press releases and so on.
• Maintain CHSJ and its programme related websites and social media platforms
• Work closely with operational team and develop stories, reports, AV material to present their work
• Work with Communication Manager to maintain database of stakeholders including donors and media persons
• Work with the Communication Manager to maintain communication with stakeholders
• Provide Communication support to programme teams
• Support the organisation of events including online events
• Any other communication task as the need arises
The Communication Associate will report to the Communication Manager

 

Competencies, Skills, and Qualifications:
• Fluency in English and Hindi – written and oral
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Knowledge of videography/ photography/editing to prepare short social media posts
• Knowledge of applications that are used for social media, mass emailing, and related
• Knowledge of maintaining simple address-related databases
• Computer skills including MS office suite and other key apps related to the tasks noted above
• Occasional traveling may be required
• A Bachelor’s degree
• Some relevant experience in communication related to a social cause
