- Making the Unseen Seen –…
CHSJ, an organization working in women’s empowerment, focuses on improving the lives of women in thirty low-income urban and peri-urban neighborhoods of Kolkata. With a reach that covers a population of over 50,000 people through its Kolkata unit, CHSJ aims to address various issues and challenges faced by women in these communities.
One of the key initiatives of CHSJ is the support provided to a network of 2000 domestic workers across Kolkata City through the Samadhan Griha Sramik Dal. This support goes beyond just assistance and includes activities aimed at enhancing the confidence and leadership abilities of these women workers.
CHSJ also recognizes the importance of fostering better relationships between domestic workers and their employers. To achieve this, the organization works to promote greater engagement and understanding between both parties. The aim is to ensure that the rights of women workers are respected and that terms of decent employment are negotiated. By acting as an interface between the members of Samadhan Griha Sramik Dal and their employers, CHSJ facilitates communication and mediation in case of issues related to continued employment.
