Parichiti, a unit of CHSJ organised a legal awareness camp in two areas of Kolkata, China Mandir, and KP Roy Lane in the month of August 2022 to raise awareness on legal provisions and rights of women under these acts. The objective of the camp was to make the urban women aware of the availability of free legal services for the poor and needy people especially the marginalised section of the society, where and how to avail it and thereby make justice easily accessible for all. A question-answer session was also organised, where senior advocates of Kolkata High Court interacted with the women and answered their questions.

More than 150 women participated in the awareness camp. The women were informed about the steps of lodging complaints at police stations and at other government support systems. They were also informed about the legal codes and laws for the protection of women from violence.

Many women shared that the Q&A session was very beneficial for them. One of the participants, Rani Barua from KP Roy Lane shared “It was a completely new experience for all of us to know about legal support in such details. It will help us. No one ever told us about the laws which are designed to protect women and helps women to get justice.”
